about the author

J R Twist is a retired science and design technology teacher. He lives with his wife, Karen, close to Lichfield, Staffordshire. He has two beautiful grandchildren named Lucy and Sophie. It was their curiosity about what the small creatures in his garden were up to that has inspired his writing and drawing. This book is self-illustrated, an activity that he thoroughly enjoys and hopes to be able to continue in his hopefully long retirement.

about the book

When your young children ask you why bees are such busy little creatures, this is the go-to book to find out why they seem to work so hard. With the help of the friendly and curious Betty Bear, you and your children can explore what the bees are up to and why they live such busy little lives. This story sets out to not only amuse and entertain, but also to stimulate an interest in all the little creatures that surround us every day. I very much hope you and your little ones enjoy it, and perhaps, having read it, will look at bees in a different way. – J R Twist
